Fifty-four kilometres of forest road

Clear Creek sits roughly 54 km north of Harrison Hot Springs, reached by following the Harrison East Forest Service Road north for about 36 km to the signed Clear Creek FSR turnoff on the right, then continuing some 12 km to the springs.

It is entirely separate from the Harrison resort despite the shared valley, and it is a different proposition in every way: no admission, no facilities to speak of, and a drive that is the main obstacle.

A 4×4 road, not a gravel road

The route starts as manageable gravel and dirt and deteriorates. Expect rough terrain, loose rock, steep pitches and frequent washouts. Water crossings are common in autumn, winter and spring, particularly after heavy rain, and the road is often unmaintained — fallen trees, deep ruts and erosion are all normal.

Four-wheel drive with proper clearance is essential rather than advisable. A two-wheel-drive car will not finish this road, and the back half is a poor place to discover that.

Plan for self-sufficiency

There is no service, no supervision and no quick recovery if a vehicle breaks or a crossing rises behind you. Travel with recovery gear, a full tank, and a realistic turnaround time.

The site also appears in older material as Ruth Larsen Hot Springs, which is worth knowing when cross-checking trip reports of varying vintage.

Opening hours & season

No verified visitor timetable

Access depends on land-manager permission, closures and local conditions. No published timetable should be interpreted as 24-hour access.

All times are local to the spring. Checked 2026-10-01; this is not a live opening-status display. Closure notices override regular hours.

Our take

Potentially of interest to backcountry travellers, but current access and the condition of any tubs should be checked independently rather than inferred from older photographs.

Editorial assessment based on published information. No firsthand visit or customer score is implied.
